Introducing the

Young Talent Programme

From our own personal experience we know how difficult it is to write your first play and have it staged at a local theatre or hireable venue. Not only do you put together a dedicated team, who are enthusiastic and serious about the commitment. There are long rehearsals, lighting and sound plans to create, costumes to source and finding a venue to perform in.

If this is your first production, venues may be dubious of hiring their space to you, especially if you're unknown. They can charge you more because there is an element of risk. Alternatively, they may want to charge you in advance. And all this has to be in place before you can even begin selling tickets. That's why Bad Wolf Theatre Company wants to help you get started in our Young Talent programme.

We can help with: finding a venue, advertising, directing, lighting/sound design and putting you in contact with other like-minded people to work alongside you. We will pay your venue hire in advance, work with you during initial and final rehearsals and be there in the audience come performance night. In short, we will support you throughout the entire process.

However, we can't do everything for you. We want this to be your success, and for you to accomplish this, you need to put in the hours. You must arrange rehearsals (of which there will be many), decide upon and supply the music to be used. Consider how you will advertise your performance and sell tickets not only to family and friends but also to the general public.

Can any young person put on a performance?

If you are between the ages of fifteen and twenty five, you can take part in this programme. We will work with you to develop a strong, well thought out idea before we start looking at performance dates and venues. We will give you honest yet constructive feedback.

Who should our performance be aimed at?

Young Talent performances must be aimed at young people between the ages of fifteen and twenty five. Put simply, young people will be creating performances for other young people. Your production should therefore appeal to your own demographic. The Young Talent programme will not preclude Theatre in Education (TIE) pieces.
